Girls L.E.A.D. "We Advocate for Equity"

The New York Edge Sports & Wellness Department was thrilled to have 8 all-girls volleyball teams in Season 2 leagues. A collaboration with Girls L.E.A.D resulted in a service project titled “We Advocate for Equity.” This project was made to give the Girls L.E.A.D teams an opportunity to combine their athletics with advocacy. The issue highlighted in the service project was equal pay and opportunities for girls and women in sports. The teams were tasked with creating a 60 to 90 second video responding to the following prompts: (1) we are athletes because, (2) girls and women in sports matter because, (3) what do we think other girls and women can gain from participating in sports, (4) we advocate for equity because.

The brave student-athletes from the Girls L.E.A.D Volleyball league at 384K submitted a video and used their voices to make a big impact! Their service project helps us take a step forward into a better future for women and girls in sports.

Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, our middle school basketball league embarked on a meaningful service project to commemorate the achievements and contributions of Black athletes who have inspired generations. Through a collaborative effort, participating school submitted videos, pictures, and excerpts highlighting the Black athletes who have left an indelible mark on their lives and the world of sports. From the electrifying dunks of Michael Jordan to the perseverance of Simon Biles, these submissions capture the essence of greatness, resilience, and trailblazing spirit embodied by Black athletes. Students shared why these athletes have motivated and inspired them, on and off the court. We invite you to check out the submissions of this service project by clicking the link below.
